Born in Italy near Milan, Renato was always a creative type and in 1996 he moved to London to pursue a career in art and design.
He studied many subjects such as fashion design, textile design, tailoring and pattern cutting before entering the prestigious Central Saint Martins University of the Arts in 2000. After this wonderful experience he worked for top UK designers including Robert Cary Williams, Pringle of Scotland and the late Alexander McQueen.
In 2005 he launched his own womenswear label as part of London Fashion Week focusing on hand-dyed textiles and printed fabrics. His work featured in many fashion magazines and also in Fashioning Fabrics: Contemporary Textiles in Fashion by Sandy Black 2006. Also that year Renato starred in the first series of Project Catwalk presented by Elizabeth Hurley and aired by SKY.
Renato then decided to go back to his motherland and in 2007 he moved to Florence to work for Roberto Cavalli designing prints for both his first line and the diffusion range Just Cavalli.
In 2009 he moved to Australia with his wife Alaina and became a senior designer at the Sydney-based graphic studio Longina Phillips Design where he created unique artwork for the fashion sector. He was also a guest lecturer at the University of Technology of Sydney teaching for the fashion and textile department. Renato and Alaina now live and work in Melbourne where they finally settled down with the arrival of their daughter Olivia.
